The UAE has become the first country in the world to offer online or digital real estate services through a smart services hub, according to authorities.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) said on Sunday that it has collaborated with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank in issuing the first digital mortgage certificate worldwide, a step that culminates the upsurge in the digitalization of services advocated by theDepartment of Urban Planning and Municipalities in response to the government directives.
It stems from the keenness of the Department to uplift the calibre of government services to rank them at par with the best in the world. It also measures up to clients aspirations and supports the sweeping development witnessed by the UAE at all fronts.
Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Technology Committee at the Urban Planning and Municipalities Department said: “This giant step of issuing the first digital mortgage certificate in the world is a result of the great support and motivation of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, during a visit to the municipality.”
“It inspires us to plan for achieving digital transformation goals. Since then, the municipality has been delivering on its promises, and gradually stepped up the tempo of digital transformation. The issuance of the first digital mortgage certificate in the world is just a result of this sweeping development advocated by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, and honouring the promises we made for our leaders.”
Al Qubaisi added: “The issuance of this certificate will undoubtedly place the UAE at the forefront as the first country in the world to provide integrated digital services related to mortgage. Despite the sensitivity of this service, the municipality has provided a wide and secure base for operational security for this service thanks to the high reliability and warranty levels.
“This drive is leading us to a stage where the client will need to attend to the promises of the Municipality for processing transactions by the end of 2018, and by the start of next year, we will achieve 100 percent digitalization, God willing.”
Engineer Eisa Omair Al Mansouri, Head of Lands and Real Estate Sector, Abu Dhabi Municipality said: “Achieving this landmark development is part of concerted steps that render the UAE a mode in delivering unique and sophisticated services. The ADM has cut short the procedures and time needed for processing transactions. Through the Smart Hub, a branch of the Government Smart Pass, it will be possible for clients to process their mortgage transactions without visiting the municipal offices and in place and at any time they wish.”
“The ADM has fitted the system with highly secure, transparent and confidential protective systems to keep the confidentiality and privacy of information. Once registered, the client can smoothly log in to the system and process the transaction under a highly secure manner. The ADM has succeeded in attracting six leading banks as partners in the system and calls for others to join. The ADM has developed the e-mortgage system rendering the UAE the first country to use the system. The system can be used in other applications such as housing loans, commercial funding, security mortgage, mortgage redemption, and others.
