By setting your INSTEON dimmers to ramp on slowly, you’ll avoid the shock of a sudden harsh light in a darkened room and extend the life of incandescent bulbs.
If you plug your Christmas tree lights into an outlet that can’t be reached conveniently, plug the lights into an INSTEON On/Off Module, and you’ll be able to turn them on and off remotely from your smartphone or tablet using the INSTEON Hub. You can also use an INSTEON On/Off Outdoor Module (Dual-Band) for your exterior lights.
Use Multi-Link mode to program scenes easily on the INSTEON KeypadLinc Dimmer. Enter Multi-Link by holding the button you want to control for 10 seconds (KeypadLinc will enter Linking Mode) and then press the SET button. Now just link all devices you want the button to control by pushing the ON button for 10 seconds on each device. Tapping the control button on the KeypadLinc will exit Multi-Link mode. Test button to verify.
Time the fade rate on your INSTEON SwitchLinc Dimmer so you can turn the lights off at the switch (across the room) and the lights won’t fully go out until after you’ve gotten into bed.
When creating a 3-way switch to control the same light from different locations with INSTEON SwitchLinc On/Off switches, make sure to cross-link them. Cross-linking INSTEON switches allows lighting to be controlled from different locations and also shows whether or not a connected light is on or off.
You can easily set the ramp rate for any INSTEON Dimmer switch. The ramp rate is set according to the brightness level (brightest being instant on and dimmest taking 9 seconds to full brightness). Select the desired ramp level. Now press the SET button TWICE quickly to lock in the ramp rate. Lights will flash to confirm. Test to verify.

While the 8 LED lights on the INSTEON SwitchLinc Dimmer are great for indicating the current brightness of the lights being controlled, you may not want a bright light bar in the bedroom, especially for light sleepers sensitive to light. Add the Frosted White Light Pipes to mute the brightness of the status lights.
